Micro Panda for Sale in Sri Lanka
Micro Panda Review
The Micro Panda car is a locally assembled hatchback vehicle available for buying in Sri Lanka. The local assembler, the Micro Cars Limited, imports the Chinese built Geely LC as a complete knockdown kit and assembles the vehicle in Sri Lanka, marketing it to the local market as the Micro Panda. There are three versions of the Micro Panda currently seen in the Sri Lankan market. The Panda 1.3 (Geely LC 1.3), Panda 1 (Geely LC 1) and the Panda Cross 1.3 (Geely LC Cross).
The “Micro Panda Cross” that was marketed as a hatchback Crossover has the looks of a crossover SUV, but is technically very much a hatchback, with a lot of SUV looking features. The regular “Micro Panda” comes with two engine sizes, the 1.0 L engine version that is currently being marketed as well as the larger 1.3 L version. Nevertheless, practically all Micro Panda models available in Sri Lanka comes with Manual Transmission, which most old school buyers may find appealing to their tastes.
Top 10 Reasons to Consider When Buying a Micro Panda
1. History and Facts about Micro Panda in Sri Lanka
The Micro Panda is a compact, stable vehicle with the direct backing of Micro cars, which helps to take care of any problems that might crop up even in the long term. Generally, the 1.3 L version had some issues with poor fuel economy and its regular models suffered from less than desirable ground clearance, which proved to be a bit of a challenge to drive around outside Colombo’s city roads. However, if potential buyers can see past these two factors, the Micro Panda is an excellent car for this price range, offering a decent level of comfort, good looks, as well as an excellent pick-up and handling to carry out daily activities.
The Chinese company Geely started the production of the Panda model back in 2009. However, Geely sometimes does not sell the model directly, rather offering it around the world through sub-brands, as is the case in Sri Lanka. Geely also owns the well-known luxury vehicle brand Volvo, which is an aspect that played well in the minds of many Sri Lankan car buyers, when Micro first introduced the Panda as a brand-new hatchback.

Despite its smaller size, one of the biggest drawbacks of the Panda has been its poor fuel economy. The 1.3 L version returns only 7-9 km/l on practical day-to-day city use. The newer 1.0 L version however returns about 10-12 km/l under city driving conditions in Sri Lanka.
