Founded in 1909 by the Japanese inventor and businessman Michio Suzuki, the Suzuki Motor Corporation gradually grew from its humble beginnings, to become one of the largest automotive manufacturers in the world. Based in Minami-ku, Hamamatsu, Japan, the company has been specializing in manufacturing a variety of internal combustion engine based vehicles for the Japanese as well as the global market. As of 2011, Suzuki grew to become the ninth biggest automaker by production volume and had 35 large-scale production facilities in 23 countries, making its vehicles available in 192 countries worldwide.

Suzuki vehicles in Sri Lanka are known for their stellar reliability and fuel-efficient performance. Vehicles such as a small Jimny are still popular, despite being over a decade old. 2. Suzuki Every

The Every is a small size kei truck manufactured by Suzuki that has achieved wide appeal among small van lovers in the country. It is available in both a wagon and van form factor, though in Sri Lanka the commercial and passenger van is more prevalent, especially among middle class small business owners. A 660 CC petrol locomotive that uses either a manual or an automatic transmission to move its forward, powers the engine of this efficient vehicle. Due to this the Every also has a good fuel economy in Sri Lanka’s roads, with around 18 km/l reported on countries long driving conditions.

3. Suzuki Swift

The Swift is ideally one of the most recognized hatchback cars manufactured by Suzuki to be sold in the island. Many Sri Lankans loved the Swift’s small round shape design, which also combined a considerable level of features, to keep its passengers happy on long distant driving. Its engine is powered by a 1.3L inline four-cylinder locomotive, which uses a four-speed automatic or CVT transmission to move its wheels forward.

4. Suzuki Alto

It is a kei car, which has a long production history going back when it was introduced in 1979. Currently at its eighth generation, the car is powered by an 800 cc engine, which uses a 5-speed MT or automatic transmission to thrust it forward.

The Grand Vitara is a compact SUV that is in production since 1988. It is also branded as the Suzuki Escudo or the Sidekick, which are also found in the local market. Currently in its fourth generation, the SUV has become highly popular among Sri Lankan’s for its compact design and admirable off-road capabilities that combined a good level of fuel economy in the process. Powered by either a 2.0L or a 2.5L engine, it uses a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission to move itself forward.
