When the Bugatti Chiron managed to set a new record, by going from 0-400-0 km/h in just 41.96 seconds last September, many supercar enthusiasts start to wonder what could be the car that might manage to top this new record. Besides, it was quite an achievement from the Bugatti Chiron, to begin with.

Well, the waiting is over and we now have an answer, and it only took us a few weeks. The Swedish carmaker Koenigsegg managed to snatch the record right out of Bugatti’s hands and they didn’t even use their best car to break Bugatti’s record.  One of Koenigsegg’s top models, the Koenigsegg Agera RS, did the damage when it hit the 0-400-0 km/h dash in just 36.44 seconds, a full 5.5 seconds faster than the Bugatti’s record.

Test driver Niklas Lilja achieved this outstanding feat at an airfield in Vandel, Denmark, where the Koenigsegg Agera RS was not just faster across the board, but it also managed to accelerate from 0-400 km/h in just 26.88 seconds, far less than the Bugatti’s 32.6 seconds dash.

The irony of this whole ordeal was that the Koenigsegg Agera RS is not the company’s fastest car. That crown actually goes to the impressive Koenigsegg One:1.

Nevertheless, we’ll just have to wait and see whether Koenigsegg would break its own record.
